“RNR ZONA LAZAREVO” and the band “DESOLATION” present:
LAZARUS FEST #01
TRASH UNION
(Zrenjanin)
Formed in the late nineties, their music can be described as crossover metal combined with hip-hop. Elements of southern metal are also an inseparable part of their distinctive style, as well as hardcore touches and rhythms that marked their upbringing alongside the people from their surroundings.
They cite as their main influences bands such as Pantera, D.R.I., Suicidal Tendencies, Body Count, S.O.D., early Metallica, Beowulf, Nuclear Assault, Exodus, No Mercy, Cro-Mags, Judge, Leeway, Biohazard, Pro-Pain, Stuck Mojo, The Exploited, and many more.
Their lyrics cover a wide range of topics, shaped by their view of the world and society, both locally and globally, often involving political—or rather anti-political—criticism of reality, spiced with humor and revolt against human unscrupulousness, hypocrisy, and double standards.
In the fall of 2009, they released their first self-released album, Built to Last. In July 2015, the EP Gone For Good followed, along with three singles with music videos—Every Man 4 Himself, Piercing the Silence, Live My Life—all featured on the Hardcore Worldwide channel.
They are very active live performers, with their appearance at Revolution Festival in Timișoara being especially notable.
COUNTER IGNITION
(Kovin)
Counter Ignition is a thrash/groove/prog metal band from Kovin, formed in 2006. They have released two records so far: Spit or Swallow (2011), self-released and reissued on several split releases in Europe and South America, and digitally through U.S. label Dysfunctional Records; and their still-current Mediocrity Deadlock (October 2015, Miner Records), which received excellent reviews both at home and abroad.
Mediocrity Deadlock was particularly well received by music critics from across the region—Croatia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a bonus track, the album features a cover of Makedonija by the legendary band Time, with none other than Yugoslav rock icon Dado Topić guesting on vocals as well as contributing bass and guitar tracks. The song reached the finals of Radio Belgrade 202’s “Song of the Week” contest, was also nominated for “Song of the Year,” and the album itself entered several “Album of the Year” selections across Serbian and regional rock portals such as Nocturne Magazine, Serbian Metal Portal, Balkan Rock, Metal Jacket (Croatia), and others. The track (No) Hope in Proles was named “Hit of the Month” on the Get on the Stage web portal.
Renowned for their concert activity, Counter Ignition has played hundreds of shows across Serbia and the region over nearly a decade, performing in clubs and festivals alike, including Adrenalin Fest in Bečej, Metal Days in Šid, Exit Festival, and more.
Genre-wise, they fall under metal, but their music also blends prog-rock and jazz progressions, grunge atmospheres, and melodies and rhythms drawn from Balkan traditional music.
DESOLATION
(Zrenjanin)
Founded in early 2014 in Zrenjanin, the band released their first demo All Equal Now later that same year. Their sound is best defined as groove metal/hardcore, though their influences span a wide spectrum including Gojira, Slipknot, Hatebreed, Lamb of God, Whitechapel, Tesseract, Kublai Khan, Mastodon, and many more. They aim to fuse different sources into original and unique musical pieces that faithfully reflect each of these styles while remaining authentic and distinct.
In the years that followed, the band played numerous concerts and festivals, winning audiences over with their energetic playing style, powerful riffs, and explosive drumming.
In March 2018, they self-released their debut album Pieces of Humanity, followed by a mini-tour in the Netherlands. The album was very well received by Serbian Metal Portal. Their first official video was released soon after, for the track Wake Up.
DRINK OR DIE
(Zrenjanin)
Formed in 2003, they brought their vision of punk and hardcore infused with Oi! and street punk aesthetics, inspired by bands such as Sham 69, Cock Sparrer, and many others.
So far, they have released two albums—Govore mi (2015), Pohlepa!!! (2017)—and played numerous shows, the most significant being their appearance at the Rock la Mureș open-air festival in Romania, where they shared the stage with The Exploited.
Their music delivers heavy social themes and an abundance of energy—leaving behind nothing but empty bottles.
